Our Requirements

SCA (WA) is the only organisation in Western Australia holding Strata Professionals to a set standard that requires them to:

  • Adhere to a National Code of Ethics in relations to their operations.
  • Provide evidence of their compliance with the requirements of the Strata Titles Act (1985) and the Strata Titles (General) Regulations 2019 each year to be able to continue as a member of the association.
  • Demonstrate commitment to achieving Strata Management Practice Standard (SMPS) certification.

    • New Certificate IV in Strata Community Management: Strata Education is a Registered Training Organisation developed by strata managers for strata managers, ensuring sector relevance and practical expertise. This qualification will meet the minimum education requirements outlined in the Strata Titles General Regulations (STGR).
    • Access to a sector-specific Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program offering over 30 events per year, segmented by career pathway and experience.
    • Online training available through the national SCA eLearning Platform, supporting flexible and ongoing professional learning.

Strata Management Practice Standard (SMPS) Certification

Strata Management Practice Standard (SMPS) is an opportunity for member businesses to further promote their professional standing in the strata management sector.

By July 2026 all SCA (WA) members must demonstrate their commitment to achieving SMPS Certification to continue their membership with the association.

SMPS Certification identifies strata management businesses who:

  • Maintain documented processes
  • Staff have met education standards and attend regular continuing professional development
  • The processes, contracts and documentation are audited on a biennial basis to ensure practices reflect the policies, and activities are in accordance with requirements.
