Today (Wednesday 25 March 2026) the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for parts of Perth and surrounds for Damaging Winds
Damaging winds averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible from late this evening
Winds are likely to be strong and may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous
Locations which may be affected include Gingin, Harvey, Armadale, Dwellingup, Ellenbrook, Kalamunda, Midland, Mundaring and Pinjarra.

Check Emergency WA to see the latest warnings and advice for your area
Secure all items on balconies and verandas, bring loose items indoors
Ensure soak wells, balcony drains are clear of leaves, dirt and debris
Charge your electrical devices
Ensure all shade sails are taken down (For common property, strata should arrange this)
Leave any external blinds open
Close any interior curtains and blinds
Close and latch all windows and doors
Stay away from windows during the storm
Staying calm and composed is essential to making safe and effective decisions, panic and stress can increase risk
Items to Have on Hand:
Candles and torches
Spare batteries
Portable power bank
Bottled water (in case of disruption to water supply)
Non-perishable food (e.g. muesli/protein bars and other easy-to-store items)
A bucket of water to assist with flushing toilets if required
A waterproof, easy-to-access container with important documents and essential medications
Preparation should be similar to a bushfire readiness kit, ensuring essentials are easily accessible in an emergency.

In the event of storm damage such as roof leaks during high winds, roofing contractors are generally unable to attend due to safety risks. SES are typically the only service able to assist during active storm conditions and can provide temporary measures such as tarps and sandbags.

Assess your property for any damage. Take clear photos and short videos to support any claims.

Reporting Damage
If damage occurs and you need to contact your Strata Manager, please provide:
Date and time of the incident
Exact location of the damage
Clear photos of the affected area
Providing detailed and accurate information will assist with insurance claim lodgement and arranging appropriate trades to carry out make-safe works.
This will likely be a time where strata managers are receiving a high volume of communications from owners It is important to remember to be patient with your strata manager as they wait for approval to act from the strata council.
