Why should you choose an SCA (WA) member to be your Strata Manager?
In a largely unregulated sector, SCA offers Strata Professionals a self-regulation model that aims to raise professional standards across the industry.
SCA (WA) is the only organisation in Western Australia holding Strata Professionals to a set standard that requires them to
-
Adhere to a National Code of Conduct in relations to their operations.
-
Provide evidence of their compliance with the requirements of the Strata Titles Act (1985) and the Strata Titles (General) Regulations 2019 each year to be able to continue as a member of the association.
-
Achieve Strata Management Practice Standard (SMPS) certification by July 2026.
It is these requirements of membership that provides owners with confidence in choosing an SCA (WA) member to manage their strata property, as any member found to be in breach of these are expelled from the association.

Strata Businesses can work towards a Strata Management Practice Standard (SMPS) Certification. All SCA (WA) members need to become SMPS Certified by July 2026.
Strata professional individuals can become SCA (WA) accredited as their education and experience develops. All SCA (WA) accredited strata managers must meet strict requirements to hold their accreditation which demonstrates their commitment to raising professional standards.
Strata Management Practice Standard (SMPS) Certification
Strata Management Practice Standard (SMPS) is an opportunity for member businesses to further promote their professional standing in the strata management sector.
SMPS Certification identifies strata management businesses who:
-
Maintain documented processes
-
Staff have met education standards and attend regular continuing professional development
-
The processes, contracts and documentation are audited on a biennial basis to ensure practices reflect the policies, and activities are in accordance with requirements.
By July 2026 all SCA (WA) members will need to achieve SMPS certification to continue their membership with the Association.
