Verity James, our 2025 MC, takes to the stage to open the CHU SCA (WA) 2025 Annual Conference, Shared Spaces, Shared Futures.

Our day begins with a Welcome to Country by Boorloo Aboriginal Cultural Experiences, acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of Whadjuk Noongar Country where we will be meeting. 

​

Then hear from CHU Underwriting Agencies, the naming rights sponsor of this year's conference.

Session 1: Strata in Focus: National Highlights & Challenges

It has been a big year in strata both on the national and regional stage. Hear from SCA leadership on the major talking points from the last 12 months and what is on the horizon for the strata sector in 2026.

Session 2: Leading Through Scrutiny

Robert Anderson, SCA (NSW) President, joins Kyra Murphy for a candid fireside chat to unpack the lessons from NSW’s year navigating media scrutiny, challenges, reforms, accountability, and bold moves on insurance commissions.

Session 3: AI Automation and Boosting Efficiency

AI isn’t here to replace you, it’s here to help you work smarter. In this session, Kale Miller will explore how automation can remove repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and give you back valuable time to focus on the parts of your role you enjoy most. With practical tips, real examples, and a clear look at the benefits, Kale will show how AI can improve efficiency without overcomplicating your day-to-day. This session also sets the stage for a dedicated AI bootcamp to be delivered with members in 2026.

Session 4: Creating Community Connections

Shani Graham joins us at Shared Spaces, Shared Futures to explore how strong communities can be built within strata settings.

 

Shani will share practical tools and real-world examples to show how strata managers and owners can work together to foster connection, cooperation and a shared sense of responsibility.

 

This session will offer fresh ideas on how to engage owners in meaningful ways, build trust and create more resilient, harmonious communities.​

Session 5: My Wildest Day in Strata

Strata management is never dull, and no two days are the same. In this lively panel discussion professionals from across the strata sector share some of the most unexpected, challenging and downright bizarre moments they've faced in their roles.

 

From unusual disputes to on the ground emergencies, hear how these professionals handled high-pressure situations, what they learned and what they’d do differently next time.

 

A reminder that in strata, you really can’t make this stuff up.

Session 6: Elders Woolstore Case Study

Explore the redevelopment of Elders Woolstore and the management of its common spaces.

 

This case study covers the project’s vision, planning, delivery, financial considerations, and compliance requirements. Attendees will see the outcomes, lessons learned, and a striking before-and-after comparison, highlighting how strategic building management can transform shared spaces and enhance community engagement.
